SUNFLOWER HOUSES

Introducing URO’s Sunflower Houses Project, a revolutionary wraparound service housing program for those in reentry in Tompkins County! URO received support and funding from the County Legislature, and the houses are now fully occupied! In addition to the CSA Shares that are available to the residents by HFFA, we would like to help residents keep the cupboards stocked in each of the 12 units with food and non-perishable items. We are asking that you please consider a monetary donation of your choosing. We also have an Amazon Wishlist campaign with supplies still needed for the houses. Thank you for your contribution to supporting one of the most vulnerable populations in our community!

HOLIDAY DONATION DRIVE

December 10, 2021 - January 17, 2022

URO is partnering with Finger Lakes ReUse & Opportunities, Alternatives & Resources (OAR) of Tompkins County to provide gift vouchers for families in reentry to purchase toys and supplies this holiday season. Funds for the Holiday Gift Voucher Program are provided by the Finger Lakes ReUse Community Fund & ReMAP program. To support our holiday program and partnership, click below to be directed to the Finger Lakes ReUse donation page and add “URO Holiday Drive” to the comments.

About the ReMAP Program

Supported by contributions to the ReUse Community Fund, the ReUse Materials Access Program (ReMAP) helps community members and local programs in need by providing direct access to reused materials of all kinds. When faced with a crisis, time is often of the essence.

This program provides fast relief through digital gift cards granting materials of all kinds from Community ReUse Centers. Most frequently, families use these funds for furniture and household goods. Finger Lakes ReUse also offers free delivery when possible. With your help, this program matches your donation 100% to provide this relief, extending help to hundreds of households per year.

More about Finger Lakes ReUse

Finger Lakes ReUse has a vision of a just, resilient, and waste-free world that values people and its resources. We offer multiple opportunities for community members to join us in engaging, active work to address a global waste problem at the local level. Our ReSET program offers job training opportunities, including paid wages for eligible participants, at our ReUse Centers in both Retail & Customer Service and Technology career paths. We also offer flexible volunteer opportunities for all ages. Find out more about these opportunities at ithacareuse.org or by calling (607)257-9699.

Thank you for donating to our COVID-19 Fund!

URO has partnered with Opportunities, Alternatives and Resources (OAR) to create a donation drive serving people seeking reentry post-incarceration.

Watch this video to see the impact of our COVID-19 meals delivery program. Thank you for contributing to URO!

We send our deepest thanks to Richard Rivera of OAR, Healthy Food For All, Gola Osteria, and the many volunteers who helped make our COVID-19 meal support program a reality. We served meals to about 100 reentry people living in encampments and throughout Tompkins County each day. The meal delivery program continues to provide warm meals to community members each day. Thank you for your continuous support!
